The Yugioh! cartoon introduced us all to the Egyptian God Cards. These
cards were created by a character called Maxamillion Pegasus, who modeled
them after what he saw on a stone tablet that was believed to house the
nameless Pharaoh's memories. Now, in the trading card game for Yugioh,
these cards are extremely powerful and are three cards in total. One card
for each of the Egyptian Gods. These Gods are Obelisk the Tormentor,
Slifer the Sky Dragon, and The Winged Dragon of Ra.
In the cartoon we see the cards used to unlock the Pharaoh's memories and
then as the target of Marik who wants to use them to steal the Pharoah's
power. Next, the cards are part of a plot to revive a beast from ten
thousand years ago. This beast is called the Great Leviathan and is meant
to destroy the world. Lastly, the cards are seen as a way for the Pharaoh
to enter a world comprised of memories where he must battle an enemy from
his past. Ultimately the Pharaoh merges all the god cards into one power
monster called The Creator of Light - Horakhty.
These Egyptian God Cards hold a large amount of power for any player in
any duel, should they chose to put the cards into their deck. So you
would be smart to at least have these cards since you can be sure others
will as well. Don't let them get the upper hand over you by playing
Obelisk the Tormentor or Slifer the Sky Dragon against your strongest
card, only to watch the chances of winning the duel slip away to nothing.
Note that these cards are often viewed as too powerful and difficult to
combat to have in play for real life tournaments and duels. Typically
they are banned from play so if you plan on getting these cards, then you
will have to use them for friendly duels only.
